Imperial Sencha -- New Arrival Spring 2021
Sunrise squints through the soaring stems of bamboo that lead you to a magical place of understated elegance where feudal castles, archaic pottery villages and restorative onsen (Japanese hot spring) swaddle an ancient tea village rooted in history for over 550 years. The Ureshino Tea Village in the Saga Prefecture is officially known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea with documented linage going back to Monk Eisai in 1440 AD. The people of Ureshino has kept its secrets closed… until now.
The secrets revealed: calcium rich limestone soil, crystal clear spring water, morning mists and river fog together with exclusive tea cultivars (Asatsuyu and Yabukita) and an unadulterated mastery of tea making going back to that faithful day when Monk Eisai planted the first tea seed that he brought home from Zhejiang, China. The result is a Sencha green tea singular in quality and legendary in stature.
